Hillary Lipman, Big Sur Coast Properties listing agent, told USA TODAY Monday that the current owner is “ready to retire and move closer to her daughter in San Luis Obispo.” Lipman shared with SF Gate that the current owner is excited to "pass along the incredible property."

The “Barrel House” was in the owner’s family for 40 years, presenting a unique opportunity to for potential buyers to purchase a home designed by legendary Big Sur architect Mickey Muennig .

Muennig was known as the “man who built Big Sur” and was best known for the design of Post Ranch Inn , a luxury resort built on the cliffs of Big Sur, according to reporting by SF Gate. He also championed organic architecture, blending properties into their surrounding landscape, SF Gate reported.
